FAQ

  • What should I know before my first group class?

Our Group Pilates sessions offer a dynamic and supportive environment where participants can enjoy the benefits of Pilates in a communal setting. These sessions cater to all fitness levels and provide a well-rounded workout that enhances strength, flexibility, and overall wellness. Working out in a group fosters a sense of community and motivation, encouraging participants to stay committed.

You are welcome to join us at any class described as Level 1 or Beginners. Arrive 5 minutes prior so you can explain to your teacher any conditions you may have or goals you’d like to achieve. We provide all the equipment, so just bring yourself, a bottle of water, and a smile! Comfortable, not baggy gym attire is recommended, with no zippers or accessories. Wear a pair of clean socks, as no shoes are needed. For your own safety, please do your best to arrive on time. If you are more than 10 minutes late, teachers may deny you access to the class and charge it as a no-show. Please take a look at our cancellation policy. Reservations not canceled 24h prior will be charged the full price of the lesson.

  • What should I know about Privates?

Privates are requested for anyone with a specific condition that may prevent them from following a full workout (hip, shoulders or back problems, for example). These classes are specifically designed to your own needs and capacities. The rhythm will also be adjusted to provide you the right amount of time to work and rest the muscles.

Privates are also advised for everyone who needs to deepen their own personal experience in the apparatus. They are fun sessions where you can explore new moves that might not be suitable for a group class.

Comfortable, not baggy gym attire is recommended, with no zippers or accessories. Wear a pair of clean socks, as no shoes are needed. Please make sure to arrive 5 minutes before the class. If you are a few minutes late for your Private, the teacher will respect the scheduled hour and finish on time. If you are more than 15 minutes, the teacher may reserve the right to skip the session and charge it as a no-show. Please be aware of our cancellation policy below. Appointments not canceled 24h prior will be charged the full price of the lesson.

  • What’s the difference between the Mat and the Reformer?

Both pieces of equipment enrich and complement each other. Our mat is the best in the market: cushy, beautifully worked with a soft fabric, and high. This allows you to move with ease, support, and comfort in all planes. When working on the mat, you use your own body weight and gravity as resistance. The Reformer consists of a carriage attached to springs; these springs closely mimic a muscular contraction. The apparatus addresses specific weaknesses, which in turns balances the body by targeting its weaker or less flexible parts.

  • How are the classes designed?

Our classes are given in English and last 50 minutes, in which we cover a variety of exercises that work the full body uniformly. We do Private sessions and small group classes (up to 5 people) to preserve traditional high quality methods of teaching. We believe that individual attention assists our clients in achieving their goals quicker and safer while constantly progressing. Such sessions allow us to tailor the classes around your needs with appropriate levels of difficulty.

Our sessions are led by experienced instructors who provide detailed guidance to ensure that the exercises are performed safely and effectively. You’ll receive individual attention and modifications to accommodate and tailor your personal fitness level and goals. We’ll encourage you to progress at your own pace while fostering a sense of community and support.

  • What Level am I?

Beginner: Level 1 or Beginner is the starting point to an amazing ride. We lay here the blocking foundations for you to understand the Pilates Method, the equipment, and, most importantly, your own body. This is where we focus on developing the technique and the reasons for each move. We kindly ask first time clients to join the Beginner class as it also gives us the opportunity to get to know you and give you options and modifications.  In general, we recommend about 5 to 10 classes (once or twice a week) to move up Levels.

Medium (Level 2-3): Having built up from Level 1, we start reaching for the core of Pilates (Level 3). Each class we add new moves and layers that will enable you to safely perform more advanced exercises. Level 2 is a fun bridge from Beginners to Intermediate where we continue to develop each move. Level 3 is where experienced students (a minimum of 6 continuous months would be advised) would start becoming more independent and feeling more courageous to aim for more.

Advanced (LEVEL 4-6): An Advanced student is one who knows the choreography of each move, the sequence of the repertoire, the set up of the equipment, and the concept behind Contrology (the original name of the Pilates Method).

Workshops: Our professional workshops are designed for Pilates instructors, Pilates enthusiasts, and fitness professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of the theory and methodology developed by Joseph Pilates. These workshops provide an advanced understanding of the core principles of classical Pilates, including control, concentration, precision, breathing, centering, and fluidity of movement. Participants will learn teaching techniques, movement analysis, and personalized adjustments for various levels and client needs. Additionally, the workshops will include case studies, supervised practice, and discussions on integrating Pilates principles into different training contexts, ensuring that professionals can offer effective and safe classes that honor the true essence of Pilates.
